HISTORY OF SERENITY LODGE 

I used to be called Barton Cottage, then Muriaroha Lodge, I used to be the top luxury lodge in Rotorua but now...........

Serenity lodge is the oldest, (and now the only), mineral spa lodge in Rotorua. We have our own mineral bore servicing three mineral pools and the historic mineral water feature shown below. You must try a massage in Rotorua we offer the best in town, we take you there and bring you back.

.....I am a getting little older, (part of me is more than 50 years) but my villas are still relative youngsters and my friends who stay with me say I am charming. I am a very lucky lodge because my owner and managers rescued me from the developers, they love me and look after me. They clean my windows and my paintwork, mow my lawns, look after my large gardens, and keep my rooms immaculate. They fix my mineral water pump, clean the pools, rake up my leaves in the autumn and my blossom in the spring, but most of all they love looking after my guests.

You will meet Hesti on the top of every page - (she is in one of my mineral pools), she's really cute  and will make your stay with me very enjoyable. If you come and stay with me you will also meet Take san, the chef in my restaurant, he is great because he picks my flowers every day and makes my dining room and bar look really pretty. They tell me he is a fantastic cook but only being a lodge I wouldn't know about things like that. Keith is my favourite because, being older, he understands me. We spend a lot of time together as he looks after me, he never growls at my leaves in autumn or my blossom in spring, and together we battle weeds in my gardens; sometimes, they come back faster than we can knock them down but we never stop trying.

In days gone by I knew the likes of Rod Stewart, Elton John, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, and even Bo Derek slept in my bed. Now they go to other places like Treetops and Solitaire Lodge but I don't miss them. I have real people in my life, people like you who want the magic that only old lodges like me know how to produce. I may be tired and a little faded but my welcome will never fade, I have been welcoming people for 46 years and I love it.
