A totally new experience in cultural tourism. You have seen the usual cultural show, the dance, the song, the costume BUT you have not seen the Chronicles of Uitara. A trilogy that spans a voyage from Asia through the Pacific to New Zealand over 3000 years. The story commences in Auckland, your port of entry, (Summer 2010), continues in Rotorua (Summer 2008), and is completed in Christchurch, (Summer 2008). You may ask, "what makes this so different from the usual ho hum concert"? The answer is not so simple but it includes millions of dollars in research, planning, technology and absolute dedication by the producers to accuracy, truth and the portrayal of their culture over millenniums. You are taken to the village, some 20 kms from Rotorua, there you are welcomed in the traditional manner. As you are wandering through the idyllic peaceful forest homes you feel the tension of an attack by a fierce tribe from the North. You are herded, by excited warriors into the meeting house to witness a life and death negotiation. Uitara is coerced into a life of terrorism in his own land and you are invited to a feast in honour of his departure.
